Communications Staff Writer
Location: Beeville
Salary: $30,907.00

Function: The Communications Staff Writer produces editorial/advertising copy,
press releases, and feature stories for a variety of media and publications that
promote Coastal Bend College faculty, staff, programs, and students in an
accurate and favorable manner. The staff writer will also develop content ideas,
gather relevant information, attend and cover activities and events, conduct
interviews and arrange photo opps. Assists with other marketing and public
relations projects as needed, such as assisting with special events, updating the
CBC website, and posting content to social media channels.
Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, communications, English,
public relations, or related field or equivalent in experience.
Experience: 0-3 years writing news and features copy, especially long-form
content and digital storytelling, in a media outlet or publication environment.
Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently
and as part of a creative team; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
and meet deadlines; knowledge of department-specific software such as Adobe
Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
